Youth

Youth from around the nation have collaborated with the National Youth Advocacy Coalition to lead the YouKnowDifferent campaign, the first HIV prevention youth-driven social marketing campaign. We are a force of young and passionate individuals who realize the power that we possess in the way that we live our lives. We are a community of pioneers who want to fuel a movement amongst youth to take the needed steps to live a life of truth, power, and longevity. We are taking action because HIV impacts all of us.

It is important to talk about HIV because:

• YOUth have the power to be a voice for change
• We are important
• Because together we can get ahead of this epidemic
• YOUth have the right to know the truth
• It could save someone's life

We need other young people to join us in creating a community of advocates that are not afraid to selflessly speak out for making HIV a part of our everyday conversations about health, sex, and love.

You can raise awareness among your friends, family, and communities by:

Assessing your own risk for HIV infection

• Getting a HIV test
• Starting the conversation
• Not being afraid to ask questions
• Talking with your sexual partner about using condoms/barriers
• Educating yourself about HIV in your community
• Volunteering for a participating organization
• Wearing a red ribbon
• Not give up!
